H.E. Commissioner Ahmed Humed Abdella is a senior security and peacebuilding professional from Ethiopia and a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the University of Hyderabad, India. He currently serves as Head of the Peace and Security Bureau of the Afar National Regional State, Ethiopia, and previously served as Deputy Commissioner and Senior Advisor to the Afar Regional Police Commission, where he also held the positions of Deputy Commissioner and Head of Crime Prevention.
He has participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in the USA and attended programs at the International Learning and Research Center in Dubai.
His academic and professional work focuses on traditional conflict resolution, legal pluralism, and indigenous mediation systems, particularly the Afar Makaabanna system. Ahmed has extensive experience collaborating with UN agencies, international NGOs, diplomats, and government institutions, and has delivered capacity-building trainings on human rights, policing, and conflict prevention.
