The Afar Peace and Security Bureau is the central regional institution responsible for maintaining peace, strengthening community harmony, and ensuring the rule of law across the Afar National Regional State. The Afar Region remains one of the most stable regions in Ethiopia, thanks to its strong traditional governance, cohesive communities, and coordinated security institutions.
The Bureau plays a proactive role in sustaining this stability by promoting peaceful coexistence, supporting traditional conflict-resolution practices, and guiding regional security policies in a collaborative and community-centered manner.
Working closely with elders, clan leaders, woreda administrations, federal institutions, and international partners, the Bureau ensures that the Afar Region continues to be a safe environment for its people, investors, and humanitarian and development actors.
